Emotional support

Looking after someone can be emotionally draining. It can leave you feeling exhausted, overwhelmed, and stressed.

Sometimes you can find yourself getting angry and resentful towards the person you are looking after because of the demands they have to place on you. This is a perfectly natural way to feel, but it is not healthy, either for you or the person you look after.

The centre offers a service which can help Carers manage stress. These include:

Carer Support Workers can also provide emotional support and information through a variety of ways.

Carers can drop into the Centre and talk confidentially to a member of staff about any aspect of their caring role. Alternatively, a member of staff can support them over the telephone or arrange to meet with them at home or local community centre, at a time and a place that suits.

Our aim is to offer a welcoming and relaxed atmosphere for Carers to talk about aspects of their caring role, confidentially in a non-judgmental way.
