Take a Break provides grants to carers of disabled children and young people who have additional support needs, or health conditions
Take a Break is Scotland’s short breaks fund for carers of disabled children, young people and their families. Take a Break grants can be used for a break away, towards leisure activities or outings; sports equipment and more.
Take a Break Scotland can accept applications from a parent or carer of a disabled child or young person. If you care for multiple disabled children or young people, we encourage you to apply for all children as part of your application.
We can only accept one application per household or family unit.
If you can say ‘yes’ to statements below, Take a Break may be able to offer a grant:
- I have lived in Inverclyde continuously for six months or longer
- I am a UK resident
- I am caring for a disabled or seriously ill child or young person aged 0-20 years who lives at home with me
- My child or young person is not looked after by the Local Authority and accommodated away from home (e.g. in foster care)
You have 12 months to use the grant. You can use the grant for a range of other items that help support a break at home such as bikes, sports equipment, outdoor play or home entertainment, as long as you tell us what you use it for.
